4 year old, interrupting my bed time song: cows are made of meat. are humans made of meat?
me: yes, we are made of meat.
her: do we eat human meat?
me: no.
her: why not?
me: well, it's complicated, but there are 3 primary reasons...

i ended on telling her about prions and how scary they are and she was like "i'm not gonna eat human meat" and i was like "that's smart, please don't"

my brother asked for the 3 reasons

1. we get plenty of meat from livestock, and the meat we get from them is significantly better in terms of quality and nutrition.

2. we don't hurt other humans, and that includes the dead. we respect other people's bodies even when they're dead, because how else would we visit granny at her grave if we took her meat? and if we ate human meat, it might make people want to kill people so they could eat their meat.

3. prions are one of the scariest things in existence, and eating human meat is one of the only ways to encounter them.
